Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

Information you give us. When you submit an event, catering or private-dining inquiry, a job application, a guest experience survey, a website feedback survey, or otherwise contact us, we collect what you choose to provide. That can include your name, email address, phone number, company name, preferred event date, number of guests, role and availability (for job applicants), visit date and party size, ratings, and any comments or messages you write.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect limited technical information, such as your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring website, pages viewed, links and buttons clicked, the date and time of your visit, and your approximate location (city or region) derived from your IP address. We collect this through cookies, pixels and similar technologies described in Section 4.

Information from third-party services. Reservations, online ordering and gift card purchases are completed on third-party platforms (see Section 3). We may receive information from those providers about transactions with us, such as your name, contact details, reservation details, order history and any notes you provide, under their terms and privacy policies.

We do not ask for, and ask that you not submit through our forms, Social Security numbers, payment card numbers, health information or other sensitive personal information.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• respond to your inquiries and plan events, catering and private dining;
• review job applications and contact applicants;
• understand guest feedback and improve our food, service and Site;
• send you updates, offers or event news where you have asked to receive them (you can opt out at any time; see Section 7);
• measure Site traffic and performance, and understand which pages and features are useful;
• keep the Site and our forms secure and prevent spam, fraud and misuse; and
• comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.

3. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

We share information only as follows:

• Service providers that operate on our behalf, such as our website host, our customer relationship management and email/messaging platform (which stores form submissions so our team can respond), and our analytics provider. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
• Third-party platforms you choose to use. Reservations are handled by OpenTable, online ordering by Toast, gift card purchases by PayPal, and maps and directions by Google Maps. When you use these services, you provide information directly to them and their own privacy policies apply. We are not responsible for their practices.
• Social media. If you follow links to our Facebook or Instagram pages, those platforms' policies apply.
• Legal and safety reasons, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, subpoena or court order, or is needed to protect the rights, property or safety of Char, our guests or others.
• Business transfers, in connection with a sale, merger or transfer of all or part of our business, in which case your information may transfer to the new owner subject to this policy.

4. Cookies, analytics and similar technologies

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to operate and to understand how visitors use it.

• Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to measure visits and interactions (for example, which pages are viewed and whether a visitor clicks to reserve, order, call or submit a form). Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as device, browser, approximate location and usage activity. Google's use of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy). You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).
• Google Search Console. We use Google Search Console to understand how the Site appears in Google search results. It does not place cookies on your device through the Site.
• Embedded content. Embedded maps, reservation widgets and other third-party content may set their own cookies when they load.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. If you block cookies, some parts of the Site may not work as intended. The Site does not currently respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals.

5. Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy — for example, to respond to your inquiry, manage your event, consider your application, or meet legal, accounting and record-keeping requirements — and then delete or de-identify it.

6. How we protect your information

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, consistent with New York's data security requirements. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you as required by law.

7. Your choices

• Marketing messages. If you receive marketing emails from us, you can unsubscribe using the link in any email. If you have agreed to receive text messages, you can reply STOP to stop and HELP for help at any time. Message and data rates may apply. Opting out of marketing does not affect messages about an event or inquiry you have with us.
• Access, correction and deletion. You may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, by contacting us using the details in Section 11. We will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity. We may keep certain information where the law requires or permits.
• Cookies. See Section 4.

8. Children's privacy

The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it. Job applicants must meet applicable age requirements for the position.

9. Links to other websites

The Site links to websites and services we do not control, including OpenTable, Toast, PayPal, Google, Facebook, Instagram and Yelp. This policy does not apply to those sites. Please review their privacy policies.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and change the effective date above. Your continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
